Technology is everywhere. And its role in our society continues to grow. Yet, the number of young people choosing a technical education remains low. While the shortage of technically skilled people keeps increasing, so do the opportunities technology offers us.

Young people often (still) don’t associate technology with something fun or appealing—something that could positively change or improve their lives. And yet, positive associations formed at a young age are crucial in shaping their vision of the future. Do you want to help change this?

What if… technology could help young people make their dreams come true?
In this Co/Lab, together with Stichting Jeugd & Beroep, we explore how to introduce young people (ages 9–14) to technology in a way that is positive and rooted in their own interests and motivations. How can we design activities, experiences, or programs that connect with their world, their drivers, and their curiosity? Here, technology is not an end in itself but a means to stimulate their personal development.

For this Co/Lab, we are looking for designers and design studios who love designing for and with young people. Those who are curious about how experience, play, interaction, identity, or creativity can contribute to a new perspective on technology. And who understand that true motivation comes from within.

Together with young people and practice-based partners, you will work on an inspiring concept or program that engages, invites, and naturally integrates technology. Does this sound like a design challenge for you?
