During Dutch Design Week ’25, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (translation: Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland) and transition designer Maria Geuze (former director of the Slow Food Youth Network) will present the publication The Table Method: Designing for change from practice and the accompanying podcast Working on change at the table.
The Table Method was developed within the Participation Table for the Food Transition, an initiative by RVO. Over the course of three years, RVO collaborated with designers, policymakers, farmers, and scientists to explore how policy and practice can reinforce each other to move the food system forward. Not a model or a blueprint, but a working practice built on trust, imagination, and time.
Following the presentation, Maria Geuze will be joined by Barbara Vos (creative lead of Co/Lab Hungry for Change, formerly Embassy of Food), several participants from the Participation Table, and the audience to discuss what design can contribute to complex transition challenges, within and beyond the food transition. Together, they will explore what this way of working requires, how true co-learning can take place at the table, and how the Table Method might be applied in other fields.
The event will conclude with a special moment: the presentation of the first copy of The Table Method. At the same time, we will celebrate the launch of the accompanying four-part podcast, in which participants of the Participation Table share their experiences and insights.
