Open call

Dutch Design Week is excited to announce the third open call for projects in public spaces. We are seeking substantial projects, sizable objects, and major installations to land on prominent squares in Eindhoven, such as Stadhuisplein, Markt or Ketelhuisplein. Last year’s included Studio Pauline van Dongen’s UMBRA PavilionTOUCHING CELLULOSE_sense of crafting by TU Delft BK & TH Köln and Water Basin Totem by Salu Iwadi Studio.

Other Grand Projects include Marco Vermeulen’s Biobasecamp, Marjan van Aubel and V8 Architect’s Solar Pavilion and Reuringsdienst’s Krijt-Je-Rijk. Dutch Design Week is searching for similar or entirely unique grand projects.

Who can enter

Dutch Design Week embraces designers from diverse backgrounds and aims to present a broad view of the design field while realistically depicting societal movements. The programme and community team will take this diversity and plurality into during the evaluation of all submissions.

We welcome designers from varied backgrounds and expertise, from architects to designers and researchers. Do you have a grand and spectacular project or installation suitable for the public space? Let’s collaborate to make it happen at Dutch Design Week 2026

Dutch Design Week

Dutch Design Week (DDW) is the platform for quality design. Dutch Design Week is about the design of the future and the future of design. Dutch Design Week opens, inspires, shares, and connects. During the nine-day event, Eindhoven is entirely dedicated to design, covering all imaginable disciplines and aspects of design. The emphasis is on expertise and talent, experimentation, innovation, and crossovers.

Collaboration

If your project is selected, you will be collaborating with the Dutch Design Foundation to participate in Dutch Design Week.

We will support all the selected projects by:

  • Waiving the basic participation fee for participating at Dutch Design Week
  • Providing a hotspot location, such as Ketelhuisplein and 18 Septemberplein or Stadhuisplein, and covering their plot fees
  • The necessary permits for presenting in the public spaces
  • A dedicated point of contact at DDW
  • Partial funding for the production of your project
  • Communication about your project on all our platforms

Please note:
DDW and Bureau Binnenstad are partnering up again to partially support your project. We have a combined budget available of €100.000, and we want to support up to eight Grand Projects. Dutch Design Foundation and Bureau Binnenstad are not grant providers; therefore, we do not have a dedicated fund. If your project requires more funding than we can provide, participation in Dutch Design Week will only be possible if you secure the remaining funding yourself. We want to emphasise that this open call is for a collaboration, and is not a commissioned project.
