Over the years, DDW has grown into a leading international event where, across nine days, the full breadth of design is presented. With the theme Past. Present. Possible., DDW this year celebrates a quarter of a century of shaping the future. It does so by reflecting on its legacy, showcasing today’s creative energy, and exploring what design might become in the future. DDW presents the work and concepts of two thousand designers to 350,000 visitors at around one hundred locations throughout the city. The programme includes exhibitions, lectures, debates, networking events, and presentations.
During the festive opening at Domus Dela, Queen Máxima will be in conversation with Miriam van der Lubbe, Creative Head of DDW, about the value of Dutch design for innovation, sustainability, connection, and social impact. The Queen will then officially open the 25th edition of Dutch Design Week.
Prior to the Grand Opening, Queen Máxima will visit the exhibition Bridging Minds – 100x Design for Change at the Van Abbemuseum. Guest curator Miriam van der Lubbe will showcase, through a selection of one hundred works by both emerging and established designers and artists, how design can create connections and contribute to solutions for societal challenges.
