In the video below, you will hear from Barbara Vos (creative lead of Co/Lab: Hungry for Change), Anna Noyons (Ink Social Design), Susanne Vermeer-van Tol (project manager of the ‘pilot duurzame CAO Rijk’, Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations), Rodolfo Groenewoud van Vliet (coordinator of Hungry EcoCities), and Alfred van Mameren (policy officer for sustainable food systems at the Province of North Brabant).
What would our food environment look like if the healthiest and most sustainable choice were also the easiest and most attractive one? That question marked the start of Co/Lab: Hungry for Change. In this lab, under the creative leadership of Barbara Vos and Anna Noyons (Ink Social Design), Rabobank, pilot duurzame CAO Rijk (Ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken en Koninkrijksrelaties), S+T+ARTS Hungry EcoCities, Provincie Noord-Brabant and Dutch Design Foundation worked together on a food environment that encourages healthier and more sustainable behaviour, without requiring daily effort. Not by persuading people, but by designing their environment in a way that makes good choices easier and more appealing.
The food transition demands more than good intentions or campaigns. It requires collaboration between people and organisations that do not naturally encounter one another, as well as imagination to look beyond the here and now. That is why Co/Lab: Hungry for Change started.
Across three co-creative sessions, the participants explored how to work towards behavioural change within larger systemic challenges, and how behaviour, money and convenience play a decisive role in this. The collaborating team learned from one another, sharpened ideas, and worked towards shared insights and concrete courses of action for all parties involved.
