What can you expect?
- The conference will be opened this year by Anneke van Dijk, Secretary-General at the Ministry of Justice and Security. Last year, she visited Dutch Design Week on her own initiative, where she emphasised the importance of innovation within government and the need to adopt new ways of working.
- We will address safety for women in public spaces and for victims of domestic violence or stalking. The Dutch Probation Service will present Fem-ik-zie-je, a victim device that allows us to experience the choices that must be made to protect this group.
- We are launching the publication The Power of Design: transforming safety practices in 40+ cases. With this, we aim not only to inspire but also to firmly put the design-driven approach on the agenda. Many more issues than are currently recognised would benefit from this way of working.
- A series of short pitches by social innovators on their approaches to safety challenges.
- The MakersCollective – a group of designers working on systemic renewal within the justice and security domain – will engage in dialogue with the audience about making choices in the field of safety, and how the power of design helps us move forward together.
