Coalition for Safety
Make more choices.
Our system of public safety and justice is under pressure. Prisons are overcrowded, the courts are slowing down, and there are no simple solutions. How can we make choices when even small changes can have major effects on people and society?
The system is stuck. That is why the Coalition for Safety calls for a new perspective and a new approach. We need to create fresh options together: from everyday practice, from the community and together with citizens. This means embracing uncertainty and daring to experiment. Safety is complex, but when we work together, real change becomes possible.
It takes courage to make choices, especially when they are unpopular. It takes courage to review them, or to rewrite rules and protocols together with others. But by opening up systems, welcoming the unknown and testing new possibilities, we can build a safer and more resilient society.
Embassy of Safety
Safety is often understood as something controlled by authorities, but true safety arises from trust, connection and shared responsibility. This idea formed the foundation of the Embassy of Safety six years ago. Over the years, the Embassy of Safety grew into a platform to explore new ways of making our society safer. When World Design Embassies, a programme of Dutch Design Foundation, transitioned into Coalitions, the Embassy of Safety continued as the Coalition for Safety.
