We do this through Dutch Design Week, Dutch Design Awards, Coalitions and Public Design Practice (PONT). Dutch Design Foundation (DDF) is a not-for-profit foundation led by a Managing Director and governed by a Supervisory Board.

The Role

As a member of the Supervisory Board, you will play a governance role at the heart of the Dutch design ecosystem. You will have the opportunity to build meaningful connections at the local, national and international levels.

Together with the other members of the Supervisory Board, you will oversee the organisation’s strategy, governance and overall performance. Above all, you will act as a trusted sparring partner and sounding board for the Managing Director. You will also ensure that the organisation operates in line with its mission and strategic objectives. Drawing on your expertise, experience and network, you will make a meaningful contribution to the leadership of DDF and help shape its future.

Your Profile

For this position, we are looking for a strong connector with an extensive network across the national and international design sector.

  • Network within the design sector: You are deeply embedded in the design industry, the creative sector or design education, and bring a strong, relevant and up-to-date professional network.
  • Strategic sparring partner: You understand the dynamics and needs of designers and know how DDF can continue to strengthen its role as a guide, catalyst and connector.
  • Intrinsic motivation: You believe that creativity and design are essential for developing new perspectives on societal challenges.
  • Strategic perspective: You are able to take a helicopter view of the organisation’s artistic, societal and strategic direction.

Practical details

Supervisory Board members are appointed for a four-year term and may be reappointed once. Members receive a modest remuneration appropriate to the nature of the role and the foundation’s public benefit mission.
The expected time commitment consists of approximately four formal board meetings each year, alongside occasional informal contact with the Managing Director by telephone or email where required.
