We do this through Dutch Design Week, Dutch Design Awards, Coalitions and Public Design Practice (PONT). Dutch Design Foundation (DDF) is a not-for-profit foundation governed by a Managing Director and a Supervisory Board.

The Role

As a member of the Supervisory Board, you will take on a governance role at the very heart of the design world. You will have the opportunity to build meaningful connections at the local, national and international levels.

Together with the other members of the Supervisory Board, you will oversee the organisation’s strategy, governance and overall performance. Above all, you will act as a trusted sparring partner and sounding board for the Managing Director. You will also ensure that the organisation operates in line with its mission, objectives and governance principles. Drawing on your expertise, experience and network, you will make a meaningful contribution to the leadership of DDF and help shape its future.

Your Profile

For this position, we are looking for a Supervisory Board member with a strong background in finance and governance.

  • Financial expertise: You bring extensive knowledge of governance, finance, financial control and risk management, ideally within a dynamic, public-private or cultural environment.
  • Strategic perspective: You are able to interpret financial information, budgets and forecasts, always keeping the long-term ambitions of the organisation in mind.
  • Intrinsic motivation: You believe that creativity and design are essential for developing new perspectives on societal challenges.
  • Governance experience: Previous experience as a board member or supervisor is an advantage, but we also warmly welcome candidates who are ready to take on their first Supervisory Board role.

Practical details

Supervisory Board members are appointed for a four-year term and may be reappointed once. Members receive a modest remuneration appropriate to the nature of the role and the foundation’s public benefit mission.
The expected time commitment consists of approximately four formal board meetings each year, alongside occasional informal contact with the Managing Director by telephone or email where required.
