How Design Works (download below)

How Design Works is a publication by Dutch Design Foundation, commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Dutch Design Foundation, showing how design accelerates innovation and helps organisations move forward. It highlights successful collaborations between designers and businesses, alongside stories from start-ups and established organisations that share concrete experiences, insights and lessons from practice. Together, designers and entrepreneurs demonstrate how design contributes to entrepreneurship, growth and earning power: impact through design.

For Jos Oberdorf, owner of the renowned studio npk design, the true value of design lies in systematically addressing complex challenges and generating economic and societal impact. Hester van Dijk of Pretty Plastic explains how design research into circular plastics grew into a successful start-up. Alain Dujardin of Greenberry shows how digital and social design come together in inclusive, purpose-driven entrepreneurship. The publication also features how Vattenfall and Secrid create impact through design, along with an overview of initiatives well worth keeping an eye on.
