This architectural pop-up project could be admired on Ketelhuisplein for 8 days during DDW19. But don’t worry, you can still see it in an episode of Tegenlicht.

The Netherlands faces a paradoxical task: building more and emitting less. Does building with wood offer the solution? The Biobasecamp provides answers to these and more issues that we face in this era.

The pavilion gives architectural expression to the contribution that “building with trees” can make to the reduction of CO2 and the reduction of nitrogen by replacing conventional building materials such as concrete with biobased materials. Architect Marco Vermeulen is the creator and implementer of the Biobasecamp: “Building with wood has a bad image, which is mainly due to the timber frame construction that already originated in the 1980s. But then we were not ready for it. Now we have CLT, and we think differently about sustainability, so this is the right time to get started. ”

Watch the episode of Tegenlicht. A part of it is in dutch.
